Anthony Ramos Presents His New Single "Se Fue"

The Grammy® winner and Golden Globe® and Emmy® nominee Anthony Ramos has released his new single via Republic Records, “Se Fue.”
Pop and Latin influences are combined in “Se Fue”. This bilingual tune is ideal for listening to in the summer. It comes after Ramos’ first single of the summer, “Villano”. His first two albums, The Good & The Bad and Love and Lies, which sold more than 100 million copies each, marked the start of a new musical era.
In an interview with Padrisimo Magazine, Ramos chatted about what kind of emotions his new album will be based on, what the best advice he has been given is, and more.
You are here with us to talk about the single “Se Fue”. Do tell!
A: I wrote this song almost two years ago. “Villano” and “Se Fue” were about a relationship coming to an end. The only way that I knew to let it out, other than through therapy, was to write music. That’s the best way I express myself, so I wanted to make a song that felt like the ultimate celebration breakup song. I was like, what’s a song that feels like a celebration? Even if someone was heartbroken, they could be in the club for 3 minutes and 30 seconds and just feel nothing but joy about what happened.
What kind of emotions or feelings will your new album be based on?
A: Honestly, capturing that feeling of what it is to be in a relationship for so long and now being single out in the world and really finding yourself This album is going to be about what it was like going from that moment, that breakup, to where I am right now. It’s almost like a timeline, almost two years of my life.
Are there any parts of your musical process that have changed that you realized when working on this album?
A: I’m okay with letting go a little more. When I'm in the studio, I don’t try to control the feeling or the vibe as much as I think I used to, especially in writing in English and Spanish, and allowing the writers to be more involved helps me in a bigger way to capture what I am feeling. Also, not trying to finish the song in one day and not rushing the music.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
A: I was told, “don't ever change the way you speak; just make sure people understand you”. I think that’s what I’m trying to find in music.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
A: I want to thank my fans and everyone who has been following me for being there for me. Thank you for continuing to walk this journey with me, and I am grateful for you all.

Háblanos de tu sencillo “Se Fue”. ¡Cuéntanos!
A: Escribí esta canción hace casi dos años. “Villano” y “Se Fue” hablan de una relación que llegó a su fin. La única forma que conocía de sacar ese sentimiento, aparte de la terapia, era escribiendo música. Esa es la mejor manera en que me expreso, así que quería hacer una canción que se sintiera como la mejor canción de celebración de una ruptura. Yo estaba como, “¿Cómo sería una canción que se sienta como una celebración de una ruptura?”. Incluso si alguien escuchara la canción en el club por 3 minutos y 30 segundos y sentir nada más que alegría por lo que sucedió.
¿En qué tipo de emociones o sentimientos se basará tu nuevo álbum?
A: Honestamente, tratar de capturar ese sentimiento de estar en una relación durante tanto tiempo y ahora estar solo y realmente encontrarte a ti mismo. Este álbum va a tratar sobre cómo fue ir desde ese momento, esa ruptura, hasta donde estoy ahora mismo.
¿Hay alguna parte de tu proceso musical que haya cambiado y que te hayas dado cuenta cuando trabajaste en este álbum?
A: Estoy bien con dejar ir un poco más. Cuando estoy en el estudio, no trato de controlar el sentimiento o la vibra tanto como creo que solía hacer, especialmente al escribir en inglés y español, y permitir que los escritores se involucren más y me ayuden a capturar lo que estoy sintiendo. Además, no tratar de terminar la canción en un día y no apresurar la música.
¿Cuál es el mejor consejo que te han dado?
A: “Nunca cambies tu forma de hablar, solo asegúrate de que la gente te entienda”. Creo que eso es lo que estoy tratando de encontrar en la música.
¿Qué mensaje le darías a tus fans?
A: Quiero agradecer a mis fans por estar siempre conmigo. Gracias por continuar caminando este viaje conmigo, y estoy agradecido por todos ustedes.
